Champagne Surprise on a Boat

The brief from the client was to “surprise the delegates with a Champagne drink from OUTSIDE the boat, in the most creative way possible”. The client absolutely did not want the champagne to already be on the boat, so we had to find a way to bring it on board. We also had the problem of keeping the delegates distracted and entertained whilst the champagne was lifted onto the boat and poured.

We split the solution into 2 parts. Part 1 would keep the delegates distracted whilst Part 2 would fulfil the client’s request. For the distraction we created a Singing Mermaid Performance. The Catamaran would cruise to the beautiful Island of Comino where we would have one of Malta’s best Sopranos dressed as a mermaid, sitting on a rock, singing with her head-mic wirelessly connected to the boats speaker system to minimize any noise interference. Whilst she sang and all eyes were turned on her, we would have 2 Scuba Divers come up from the water and position themselves on the boat stairs. Suddenly the music would change to the Mission Impossible Soundtrack, the Divers would jump up the stairs, take off their dry suits, revealing their tuxedos underneath, pull a bottle of champagne each out of their rucksacks and pop the corks. Waitresses would rush out with trays of empty champagne flutes which the divers would fill as they walk around the boat.

One of our all-time favourite incentive surprises! Our client loved it so much that the next year we did it again but instead of divers coming from below, we had abseilers coming down the cliffs from above!
